Anything below 7 is considered acidic and anything above is considered basic. Our hair, skin and nails are pH balanced at 4.5 to 5.5. Why is pH balanced shampoo so important? Any product used on your hair that is above 5.5 will open the cuticle of the hair shaft, rinsing color down the drain causing fading. Even if you aren’t in the salon getting your hair colored regularly or even at all, an open cuticle means you’re still at risk for damaged hair! Smooth cuticles mean the hair is in tact and healthy. • Our Conditioners have a low pH Following a color service it is important to close the cuticle of the hair shaft back down. Are low pH conditioners important? A chemical service can leave the cuticle open for up o 48 hours.
